This position is ideal for a senior technician who enjoys mentoring, coaching, and developing younger techs while still being hands-on in the field. The ideal candidate has strong commercial HVAC/R experience, advanced troubleshooting skills, VRF system knowledge, and the professionalism to represent BCS Mechanical at a high level. This role will serve as the field lead for service work and will play a key role in shaping the future structure of the service department. Key Responsibilities Technical Service & VRF Expertise Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC/R systems including RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, VAVs, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and VRF/VRV systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.). Perform advanced electrical, refrigerant, and controls diagnostics. Lead complex service calls and support junior technicians with difficult troubleshooting. Ensure all work meets manufacturer standards, local codes, and company quality expectations. Mentorship & Team Development Train, guide, and mentor apprentices and younger technicians. Provide technical support, coaching, and real-time learning opportunities on job sites. Assist management in developing training plans, skills checklists, and field standards. Help build a positive, professional, team-oriented culture. Leadership Pathway Responsibilities Demonstrate the ability to take ownership of jobs, customers, and outcomes. Provide feedback to the Operations Manager regarding technician performance and field challenges. Assist with planning manpower for service jobs and PMs. For the right candidate, this role can grow into Service Lead, Field Supervisor, or Service Manager as the company expands. Customer Communication Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair options clearly and professionally. Build trust and long-term relationships with customers. Support accurately written service notes, repair estimates, and recommendations. Operational Support Complete service tickets, PM documents, and jobsite paperwork accurately and on time. Assist with material lists, repair quotes, scopes of work, and dispatch communication. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and tools on the service vehicle. Participate in on-call rotation. Qualifications 5+ years commercial HVAC/R service experience required Strong VRF/VRV experience required (troubleshooting, commissioning, service) Universal EPA certification Ability to read wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and control schematics Strong troubleshooting capabilities in refrigeration, electrical, and control systems Mentoring or leadership experience preferred Valid driver's license and clean driving record Excellent communication and customer service skills Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work on rooftops and in mechanical rooms Ability to kneel, bend, twist, crawl, and work in various weather conditions Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay (DOE) Overtime available Paid holidays and PTO Health, dental, and vision benefits Company service vehicle and fuel card Tablet/phone and digital tools Ongoing training (factory, VRF, safety, refrigerant handling) Clear pathway to Field Supervisor / Service Manager for qualified candidates About BCS Mechanical BCS Mechanical is a growing commercial HVAC, controls, and mechanical service provider focused on quality, long-term customer relationships, and developing top-tier technicians.
