Join the Loudoun County Department of General Services (DGS) as a Public Works Technician II and be part of our team that performs maintenance and inspections on stormwater facilities countywide, administers the Loudoun County Asphalt Maintenance and Repair Program, responds to County emergencies, and provides other essential public works functions. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, this position provides support for Public Works operations and assists with stormwater problem resolutions. Responsibilities include maintaining pavement, manufacturing and installing street signs, performing general grounds and mowing maintenance, maintaining stormwater structures and channels, water and wastewater, operating tools, vehicles, and equipment, and supporting County elections, emergency, and snow removal operations, and providing superior customer service at all times. High school diploma or equivalent with training in landscaping and heavy equipment, and two (2) years of related work experience in landscaping and the operation of heavy equipment, including some work supervision experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including criminal, credit, driving (DMV) record checks, and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) fingerprinting. Valid driver's license (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). A pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required for CDL holders. The successful candidate holding a CDL must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees. Must possess the ability to lift 70 lbs. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered essential personnel.
