Job Description

The City of Everett is currently accepting applications on an open/competitve basis for the Civil Service examination process for Small Tool & Equipment Repair Technician with the Everett Public Works Department. This is work in the maintenance and repair of small tools, equipment and engines. The work involves responsibility for keeping small power tools, engines and other assigned equipment in good repair. When repairs are needed, the incumbent returns the equipment to service quickly and economically. Employees in this class are responsible for performing engine troubleshooting, tracking equipment preventive maintenance schedules and monitoring shop repairs and maintenance. The responsibilities also include overseeing inventory and the ordering of parts, tools and other miscellaneous items. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Requires a minimum of four (4) years verifiable experience in diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a variety of small tools and equipment associated with industrial, commercial and the trades environment; OR any combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid Washington State Driver License Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, a valid WISHA compliant forklift certification.

There will be a pre-screening of all applications. A resume is required, with a two-page maximum. All applications without a resume will be eliminated. Responses to the supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated (weighted 10%). Top-scoring applicants will be called to an oral panel interview with a practical component (weighted 90%) All vacancies in this job class will be filled from the ranked Civil Service register established from the examination process for 12 months.
IMPORTANT NOTES A
passing grade of 70.00 or higher is required on all parts of the screening process for placement on the ranked Civil Service eligible register. The examination process is designed to sample and measure the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applicants claiming veterans' preference points in accordance with
RCW 41.04.010
as amended and meeting eligibility criteria must submit form DD214, or its equivalent or successor discharge paperwork, that characterizes his or her service as qualifying discharge as defined in
RCW 73.04.005.
