Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks and related telecommunication systems in various field locations, mostly within the Cox Communications network. This role requires technical expertise in fiber splicing, network installation, fiber testing, along with strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills. The technician will ensure high-quality service delivery and support to our customers. Responsibilities Perform fiber splicing and termination to ensure optimal signal transmission. Install, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cables, Ethernet, and low voltage systems. Conduct cabling, mechanical installation, and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure. Use hand tools, and other testing devices to diagnose network issues. Assist with network installation projects in various locations, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Perform field service tasks such as system testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on-site. Document work performed accurately and prepare reports for project records. Follow safety protocols related to the job/customer requirements. Experience Proven experience as a service technician or field technician in telecommunication or networking environments. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, network installation, and cabling techniques. Mechanical knowledge related to cable management and equipment setup. Ability to operate hand tools effectively and safely in a field setting. OTDR testing experience and troubleshooting splice losses/issues is preferred. Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure or as a fiber optic technician is highly desirable. This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge telecommunications projects in a dynamic environment requiring technical proficiency and a commitment to quality service delivery. Hard working and hungry for hours. Night-time work, overtime and some weekends will be asked of you. Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and have clean driving record.
