A Telecommunications Field Technician telecommunications Field Service Technician installs, repairs and maintains voice, data and video systems for a company's customers at the customer site. Prepares and documents a customer's network prior to implementing telecommunication system. Installs IP, network equipment and facilities. Acts as the first point of issue resolution, responds to field engineering issues and troubleshooting telecommunication problems. May train less experienced field technicians.

Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Telecommunications Field Engineer in San Francisco, CA This job will have the following responsibilities: Worker must weigh less than 250 pounds in order to meet safety-related requirements Vehicle requirement: Candidate's vehicle must be able to carry a 24 to 28-foot extension ladder and small equipment/tools. We will supply candidates with any specialized tools needed to perform the work, including some common tools Work will predominantly be done in the field with a small amount at home. The radius of work travel will be the city and its immediately surrounding areas
Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on experience with the design and install of equipment used in transmitting broadband data over in-building networks
  • Hand-on experience with coax, twisted pair copper or fiber optic cabling and complex networks as well as switching equipment
  • Experience with coordinating installation of new in-building networks or equipment
  • Ability to evaluate multi-tenant (residence and business) buildings to determine compatibility with different networks and systems
  • Experience with managing large build projects involving broadband services, and ensure timely planning and implementation
  • Experience with producing technical as-built documentation
  • Ability to provide general ad-hoc operational support for local field engineering and sales teams
Must Have Skills:
  • General knowledge & experience with the design and install of in-building network architectures
  • General work area hazard identification & prevention
  • Knowledge & experience with CATV provider termination points (e.g., terminals, pedestals)
  • Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting coax and Cat6a Ethernet cabling
  • Must possess a vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment
  • Hands-on experience working off of ladders (step/extension/folding)
  • Hands-on experience with drilling in multiple dwelling/commercial buildings
  • Frontline experience with working with customer/clients
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge & experience with Google Suite and other computer and mobility based applications
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent field experience
  • Experience with working on multiple dwelling/commercial building rooftops (flat and/or pitched)
