Acts as the first point of issue resolution, responds to field engineering issues and troubleshooting telecommunication problems. May train less experienced field technicians.

Job Details:
Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling in Inside Plant (ISP) environments, including racks, patch panels, and cable trays. (must also Know lacing and stitching) Perform general installation of telecom racks and equipment in central offices Review and interpret engineering drawings, cable plans, and system schematics to support proper installation and configuration. Maintain inventory of materials and tools; report material shortages or quality issues. Ensure job site cleanliness, safety compliance, and proper use of PPE. Installs, digital switching equipment, attendant consoles, power and ringing relay racks, miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and other circuits and related apparatus required in the central switching office. Performs routine preventative maintenance on switch hardware and equipment. Resolves customer trouble calls related to voice issues. Maintains safe work environment and conditions by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. Provides other duties as assigned to support contract requirements.
Knowledge and Experience:
3+ years of experience on maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems with a focus on Inside Plant environments for central offices. Knowledge and experience with the installation of telecom communications systems Proficient in the use of cable testers (e.g., Fluke DTX/DSX), fusion splicers, OTDRs, tone generators, and other related tools. Experience interpreting construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and OSP/ISP plant schematics. Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as NEC, BICSI, EIA/TIA, and applicable DoD guidelines. Strong documentation skills using redline drawings, cable records, and QC checklists. Familiarity with telecommunications pathways (conduit, tray, raceway) and firestopping practices.
