Fiber Optic Installer

Duties Install, route, and secure fiber optic cables in various settings including underground, aerial, and inside buildings. Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal transmission and minimal loss. Conduct network installation activities involving Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage cabling. Use hand tools and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters to test continuity, measure electrical resistance, and troubleshoot issues. Connect and configure Cisco routers and other networking hardware to establish stable network connections. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on telecommunication infrastructure in the field. Document installation progress, test results, and maintenance activities accurately for record-keeping and quality assurance. Skills Proven experience with fiber splicing techniques and cable management. Strong knowledge of network installation processes including Ethernet wiring, telephony systems, and telecommunication standards. Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and basic computer networking concepts. Hands-on experience with field service tasks involving cabling, mechanical installation, and troubleshooting electrical components. Ability to operate hand tools effectively such as crimpers, cutters, strippers, and ohmmeters. Mechanical knowledge related to cable management systems and infrastructure setup. Prior service technician experience in telecommunications or related fields is highly desirable. Understanding of low voltage electrical systems combined with electrical experience is a plus.
