TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking an experienced Field Technician II to join our team in Tampa, FL.Summary:
The Technician II, performs preventive maintenance on Intelligent Transportation System devices on various Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), county, and city contracts and customer equipment. This job may include any aspect of corrective and preventive maintenance actions, including troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; and documentation. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to perform maintenance to maximize efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned. Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to include PC based computers, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, radio equipment, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Microwave Vehicle Detection System (MVDS) units, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). Completes reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices. Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame. Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues Reports the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness. Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible. Isolation of faults in units or components Field test of units or components; tests devices to ensure they work correctly. Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following established procedures. Responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient locating of underground utilities, including fiber optic cable, telecommunications, and electric power. Reading maps and blueprints to determine where utilities are located. Search for underground utilities in an area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary paperwork, and photographing each locate.Required Skills & Experience:
Basic computer and networking experience FDOT approved TTC certification Knowledge of how to request and perform Utility Locates Use of a digital multimeter for servicing equipment Use of hand and power tools to install equipment into various buildings, cabinets, and racks. Windows TCP/IP setup Remote computer system management Read and interpret schematic diagrams & construction plans. Basic knowledge of computer hardwareDesired Skills & Experience:
CDL Class B license. Ability to operate mini excavators, tracked loaders, and other construction equipment. International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal I Certification. International Motorsports Association (IMSA)Traffic Signal II Certification Education:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One-year Certificate from college or technical school or equivalent military training and experience desired.Job Complexity:
Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Demands:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to enter and exit small, medium, and large duty vehicles.
