Role Overview Signal Cable Inc. is looking for dependable Fiber Field Technicians to support active fiber optic projects and day-to-day network operations. The position involves hands-on field work across customer locations and project sites, with assignments ranging from new fiber installations and splicing to service calls, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Technicians are responsible for managing their assigned work while maintaining appropriate standards for safety, workmanship, and customer service. Because this is a field-based position, candidates should be comfortable adapting to different job-site conditions, working independently, and communicating effectively with supervisors and customers. This opportunity is offered as W-2 employment and includes production-based field assignments within Signal Cable Inc.'s telecommunications operations. Field Work & Daily Activities A technician's daily workload may include installing and routing fiber, completing splices, testing connections, diagnosing service problems, and performing repairs or preventive maintenance. Each assignment must be completed according to applicable project specifications and company quality expectations. Technicians are also responsible for documenting their work accurately. This includes recording completed production, labor time, materials, testing information, and other details required for individual assignments. Quality issues identified in the field or during an inspection must be addressed appropriately. Any property damage, service interruption, unsafe condition, or other job-site incident should be communicated to the appropriate supervisor without delay. All field activities must be performed in accordance with OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and applicable site-specific rules . Customer property and existing utility infrastructure must be protected throughout the work. Tools, Equipment & Communication Technicians are expected to safely operate the hand tools, testing equipment, mobile devices, and other equipment necessary to complete their assignments. Company-provided equipment, materials, and vehicles must be handled responsibly and maintained in appropriate working condition. Clear communication is an important part of the position. Supervisors should be kept informed of completed work, delays, technical problems, changing field conditions, or other circumstances that could affect an assignment. Candidate Profile This position is best suited for someone who is dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable solving problems in a field environment. Candidates should be able to follow technical instructions, prioritize multiple assignments, make appropriate decisions in the field, and provide professional customer service. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required due to regular travel between work locations. Depending on project and workload requirements, schedules may include evenings, weekends, or holidays. Requirements for Field Operations Candidates must: Have access to a truck, van, or SUV appropriate for field work. Maintain the required tools for their assigned activities. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when representing Signal Cable Inc. Meet applicable background screening and drug-testing requirements. Be prepared for regular travel between assigned customer locations and job sites. Employment & Compensation Structure This is a W-2 employment position . Field compensation is based on completed production and assigned work, with specific rates and applicable job categories communicated as part of the employment process.
