Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Fiber Optic Field Technician and become a vital part of building and maintaining cutting-edge telecommunication infrastructure. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic cables and related network components. Your expertise will help ensure reliable high-speed connectivity for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate heavy equipment, and develop specialized skills in fiber splicing, cabling, and network infrastructure. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables using hand tools, power tools, and specialized splicing equipment. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other construction machinery safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas. Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams related to telecommunication systems. Perform fiber splicing to connect fiber strands accurately for optimal signal transmission. Conduct cable routing, trenching, and conduit installation in various environments including urban and rural settings. Troubleshoot network issues involving LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical infrastructure. Climb poles or structures safely while adhering to safety protocols to install or repair network components. Use computer networking tools to test connectivity, verify signal integrity, and document system configurations. Collaborate with team members on project schematics and technical plans to ensure precise installation and maintenance of network infrastructure. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, splicing details, and equipment used. Qualifications Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or electrical construction environments. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks confidently and safely. Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and cabling practices. Familiarity with telecommunication systems including LANs, Ethernet networks, WANs, telephony, and IT infrastructure. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, power saws, drills, and other construction-related equipment. Understanding of electrical systems and low voltage wiring standards. Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints accurately. Comfortable climbing poles or structures while following safety procedures. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting network issues efficiently. Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
