Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Fiber Optic Field Technician to join our team as a trade partner and play a vital role in maintaining local fiber optic networks. This energetic position involves hands-on installation, splicing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic cables and related telecommunication infrastructure. Responsibilities Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables according to schematics and technical specifications Operate equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to facilitate cable installation and maintenance Troubleshoot and repair existing fiber optic infrastructure Climb utility poles and structures using climbing gear or ladder to access hard-to-reach areas for cable placement and repairs Use hand tools and electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot network issues and ensure optimal performance Interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and construction plans to accurately execute installations Maintain detailed records of work performed, including splicing maps, test results, and asset documentation Requirements Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunication or construction environments Must be able to work a minimum of 4 ten hour shifts per week Applicants with the ability to provide their own truck with ladder rack and tools are greatly preferred. Others evaluated on a case by case basis. Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with knowledge of optical testing procedures Physical ability to climb structures regularly and work at heights using climbing gear and/or ladder Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting network issues Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL or relevant certifications are a plus Prior experience with telephony systems or IT infrastructure is advantageousJoin our team to build reliable fiber optic networks that connect communities!
