Position Classification Network Design Technologies Inc. (NDT) is expanding its field-service coverage throughout the Baltimore-Washington, DC corridor and is seeking two experienced Telecommunications Field Technicians . This is a part-time 1099 independent contractor opportunity supporting commercial technology assignments. Candidates must have reliable transportation and should be prepared to service assignments generally within 60-90 minutes of their home location . Technicians located between Baltimore and Washington are strongly encouraged to apply because assignments may be available throughout both markets. A refundable $35 background check is required if selected. Proof of applicable insurance coverage is required as part of NDT's contractor onboarding process. Technicians who do not currently carry the required coverage must obtain it within 30 days of their start date. Commercial clients only. No residential service work. Position Overview NDT is seeking experienced field technicians to install, troubleshoot, repair, relocate, and support commercial telecommunications and technology systems. Assignments may include structured cabling, network infrastructure, commercial phone and internet systems, Wi-Fi, equipment installation, site surveys, moves/adds/changes, troubleshooting, and related low-voltage field services. Ideal candidates may be located in or around Baltimore, Columbia, Laurel, Jessup, Bowie, Greenbelt, College Park, Silver Spring, Washington, DC, or surrounding communities that provide practical access to both Baltimore and Washington. Technicians generally work independently unless the Scope of Work (SOW) requires multiple technicians. Key Responsibilities Follow detailed work orders and complete assigned scopes independently Pull, terminate, test, label, and manage telecommunications cabling Perform structured cabling installations in accordance with industry standards Mount backboards, racks, patch panels, and related equipment Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications and network equipment Perform commercial site surveys and troubleshooting Document work accurately, including required photographs, test results, and closeout information Maintain professional communication with NDT, customers, site contacts, and remote support teams A detailed required-tool list will be provided before the interview. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of telecommunications or field-service experience Technical diploma in telecommunications or equivalent practical experience preferred Experience with structured cabling, telecommunications, networking, or related low-voltage systems Knowledge of applicable cabling standards and industry practices Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently and follow detailed scopes of work Professional customer-service and communication skills Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Willingness to travel throughout the Baltimore-Washington service corridor Standard telecommunications hand tools and field equipment Work and Payment Terms Assignments are offered based on customer demand, technician location, qualifications, and availability This position does not guarantee a fixed number of weekly hours Materials required for specific assignments may be provided in advance; technicians are responsible for safeguarding assigned materials and reporting additional requirements Most assignments are intended for completion during the scheduled service visit Payment is contingent upon completion of the authorized scope and submission of required closeout documentation in accordance with the work order Required photographs, test results, signatures, notes, and other deliverables must be submitted as directed Approved travel reimbursement is calculated from the technician's home location to the assignment and is supplemental to assignment compensation; return mileage is not reimbursed Net 14 payment terms via direct deposit
