Job Description
Overview Telecommunications Technician I (2026-26127-F): Bowhead seeks qualified Telecommunications Technicians I to support Base Telecommunications System operations and maintenance at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. The Telecommunications Technician I will assist with preventive maintenance, infrastructure inspections, and telecommunications system support activities across the installation. This position supports the reliability and operational readiness of the Base Telecommunications System and may perform work across multiple installation areas including McGuire, Ft. Dix, and Lakehurst as operational needs require.
Responsibilities Essential functions will include:
Perform preventive maintenance inspections on telecommunications infrastructure including manholes and handholes. Inspect telecommunications terminals and associated infrastructure to ensure proper operation and maintenance. Conduct scheduled testing of spare conductors and telecommunications cabling. Support maintenance and inspection of telecommunications outside plant infrastructure. Assist with telecommunications maintenance and repair activities as directed. Support troubleshooting and restoration of telecommunications service outages. Assist with work order execution including installation, relocation, and removal of telecommunications circuits, cabling, and equipment. Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance actions, and telecommunications system updates. Assist senior telecommunications technicians with infrastructure maintenance and system support activities. Travel between installation locations including McGuire, Ft. Dix, and Lakehurst to support operational requirements as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training in telecommunications, networking, or information technology is preferred. Years of experience Minimum of one to three years of experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure, technical maintenance, or related technical work preferred. Required skills or certifications Working knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure including copper and fiber cabling systems. Ability to assist with preventive maintenance inspections and telecommunications infrastructure support activities. Ability to follow technical procedures and work under the direction of senior telecommunications personnel. Ability to read and interpret basic telecommunications drawings and infrastructure documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records. Strong communication and teamwork skills in a technical work environment. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a teamPhysical Demands:
