Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Radio Field Technician to join our telecommunications operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing radio communication systems and fiber optic networks in outdoor environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical proficiency, hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation, and a thorough understanding of telecommunications infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex outdoor projects, ensuring reliable communication services across diverse settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain radio communication systems and fiber optic networks in outdoor environments Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely and efficiently during field operations Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve technical issues within telecommunications systems Perform fiber optic cable splicing, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal network performance Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation plans to execute precise cable routing and system setups Conduct telecommunications testing using specialized equipment to verify network integrity and performance Ensure compliance with safety standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) during all field activities Perform telecommunications outside plant operations such as cable installation, splicing, and maintenance Support engineering troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing issues within fiber optic or copper-based networks Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including technical reports and system configurations Skills Extensive experience in field service operations within the telecommunications industry Proficiency in heavy equipment operation including bucket trucks and power tools Skilled in fiber optic systems installation, splicing, and testing techniques Familiarity with telecommunications testing equipment and diagnostic tools Strong knowledge of telecommunications cable splicing, network cabling, and outside plant operations Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately Experience with computer networking concepts such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and electrical safety standards (including NESC) Hands-on experience with telecommunication infrastructure installation in outdoor settings Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to fiber optic networks or IT infrastructure efficiently Excellent climbing skills for working at heights on poles or towers Strong understanding of telecommunications network components including fiber optic cables, cables routing, and power supplies Technical proficiency with telecommunication testing equipment for verifying network performance Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams and providing technical troubleshooting support This position is integral to maintaining the integrity of our communication networks while providing an engaging environment for professional growth. Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
