Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Field Technician specializing in RF (Radio Frequency) and radio systems to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex telecommunications networks, including fiber optic systems and radio communication equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive outdoor work experience, technical proficiency in telecommunications testing and diagnostics, and a strong understanding of network infrastructure. Duties Install, configure, and maintain RF/radio communication systems, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and related hardware. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach locations. Perform fiber optic cable splicing and fiber network installation in outdoor environments following industry standards. Conduct telecommunications testing using specialized equipment to ensure system integrity and performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams to accurately execute cabling and network setups. Troubleshoot engineering issues related to wireless and fiber optic networks through diagnostic tools and technical support. Perform telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable splicing, routing, and securing cables in outdoor settings. Adhere strictly to safety protocols outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) during all field activities. Support low voltage wiring installations for telephony, LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and IT infrastructure. Assist with the operation of telecommunication network infrastructure including electrical systems and power supplies. Climb towers or poles safely while managing climbing gear and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Document work performed through detailed reports and update technical drawings as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunications or related industries. Strong background in heavy equipment operation such as bucket trucks, lifts, or cranes. Proficiency with diagnostic tools used for troubleshooting RF/radio systems and fiber optic networks. Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing, fiber optic cables installation, and telecommunications cable splicing techniques. Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment for verifying signal quality and network performance. Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant operations including cabling, routing, splicing, and securing cables outdoors. Understanding of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards applicable to outdoor electrical work. Technical proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documentation. Experience working with computer networking concepts such as LAN, Ethernet, WAN configurations, and IT infrastructure support. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices safely and effectively. Strong climbing skills combined with outdoor work experience in various weather conditions. Electrical experience related to low voltage wiring for telephony or data communications is preferred.
