Responsibilities Perform fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in outdoor settings, including telecommunications outside plant operations Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other specialized tools safely and efficiently for cable installation and maintenance Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify issues within fiber optic networks and resolve technical problems promptly Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately execute installation plans Conduct telecommunications cable installation in accordance with industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and local safety protocols Climb poles or structures safely while adhering to safety standards, including proper use of climbing gear and low voltage safety procedures Support telecommunication network infrastructure projects by interpreting schematics, cabling diagrams, and computer networking configurations like LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) setups Skills Extensive field service experience with outdoor work environments involving fiber optic cables and telecommunications infrastructure Proficiency in fiber splicing techniques, including fusion splicing and mechanical splicing methods Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and telecommunication-specific machinery safely Strong knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment used for network diagnostics and troubleshooting Familiarity with telecommunication systems installation, testing, and maintenance processes across various platforms including Ethernet, telephony, LAN, WAN, and IT infrastructure Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, engineering troubleshooting guides, and cabling diagrams Experience with climbing poles or towers safely while adhering to safety standards like the NESC guidelines Technical proficiency in computer networking concepts related to telecommunication networks and network infrastructure support Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on technical troubleshooting support for fiber optic networks Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems relevant to outdoor telecom operations Join us if you're passionate about advancing telecommunications technology through expert fiber optic splicing and network installation.
