Overview Join our dynamic team as an Aerial Fiber and Bury Drop Technician, where you will play a vital role in deploying and maintaining cutting-edge telecommunication infrastructure. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors, utilizing heavy equipment and hand tools to install, splice, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables both aerially and underground. Responsibilities Install aerial fiber optic cables using bucket trucks, climbing equipment, and other heavy machinery while adhering to safety protocols. Bury underground fiber drops by operating power tools, trenchers, and other construction equipment to lay cable accurately and efficiently. Perform fiber splicing and termination to ensure optimal signal quality across various network configurations. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical blueprints related to telecommunication infrastructure projects. Conduct routine inspections of installed cabling, network infrastructure, and electrical systems to identify issues or potential failures. Utilize computer networking knowledge to troubleshoot LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems when necessary. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including installation logs, schematics updates, and incident reports for project documentation. Qualifications Proven experience in field service roles involving heavy equipment operation such as bucket trucks, trenchers, or power tools. Strong understanding of telecommunication systems including fiber optics, cabling techniques, fiber splicing, and low voltage electrical work. Familiarity with computer networking concepts like LAN, Ethernet, WAN, and IT infrastructure components. Ability to climb poles safely using climbing gear and adhere to safety standards related to working at heights. Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools necessary for construction and installation tasks. Knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, and electrical wiring diagrams relevant to network infrastructure projects. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues or physical cabling problems efficiently. Join us in building the future of connectivity!
