Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Communications Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support mission-critical communications and technology systems for oilfield and industrial operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving technical problems, and can work independently in remote field conditions. The Communications Technician will support internet systems, wireless networking, Starlink deployments, SD-WAN failover systems, cameras, surveillance systems, intercom communications, trailer technology packages, and field communications infrastructure. Core Responsibilities Network & Internet Systems Install and configure Starlink internet systems for field locations, offices, housing sites, and remote operations Deploy and manage Peplink routers, failover systems, LTE backups, and SD-WAN solutions Proficient in UniFi routers, switches, access points, and wireless networks Troubleshoot outages, and restore connectivity quickly Wireless Communications Install and maintain wireless intercom systems on drilling rigs and industrial sites Deploy point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless bridges (Ubiquiti systems) Support radio communications and wireless voice systems Troubleshoot signal, interference, and range issues in harsh environments Camera & Security Systems Install IP camera systems, PTZ cameras, AI-enabled surveillance cameras, and NVR systems Mount cameras on poles, structures, trailers, and elevated locations Troubleshoot camera outages, image quality, zoom controls, and recording issues Support temporary mobile surveillance trailer deployments Trailer / Mobile Technology Packages Set up communications trailers with internet, cameras, power systems, TVs, and command center equipment Run cabling, mount hardware, test systems, and prepare units for customer deployment Support rapid mobilization / demobilization of field assets Cabling & Infrastructure Run CAT6, coax, low-voltage power, and structured cabling Install conduit, weatherproof enclosures, antennas, poles, brackets, and mounting systems Label, document, and maintain organized installations Troubleshooting & Support Diagnose network issues, hardware failures, power problems, and user complaints Provide remote and onsite support for customers and operations teams Escalate major issues with clear communication and ownership until resolved Inventory / Operations Support Maintain accurate equipment inventory Stage, prep, test, and QA new deployments Track damaged, missing, or returned equipment Keep vehicles, tools, and field gear organized and deployment-ready Required Skills & Experience Experience with networking, Wi-Fi, routers, or telecom systems Ability to troubleshoot without hand-holding Familiarity with Starlink, Peplink, UniFi, Ubiquiti, cameras, or similar systems preferred Comfortable climbing ladders, working outdoors, and traveling to field locations Basic understanding of IP addressing, networking, and internet systems Ability to use hand tools, drills, meters, and testing tools Strong communication skills and professional customer presence Valid driver's license with clean driving record Preferred Experience Oilfield, industrial, construction, or remote operations experience Tower / elevated work experience CCTV / surveillance installation experience
OSHA / H2S
/ Safeland certifications Military technical background strongly valued Physical Requirements Lift 50+ lbs regularly Work in heat, cold, mud, dust, and changing field conditions Climb ladders and work at heights when needed Travel overnight occasionally
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.50 per hour
