A Telecommunications Field Technician telecommunications Field Service Technician installs, repairs and maintains voice, data and video systems for a company's customers at the customer site. Prepares and documents a customer's network prior to implementing telecommunication system. Installs IP, network equipment and facilities. Acts as the first point of issue resolution, responds to field engineering issues and troubleshooting telecommunication problems. May train less experienced field technicians.

Summary :
Technician Security I responsibilities range from installing, modifying, repairing, and upgrading a Monitored Alarm system and video services equipment. Evaluate a customer's needs and perform diagnostic testing on complex systems to identify and resolve various faults, performing permanent resolutions. Install systems that best meet the client's needs and routinely test telecommunications systems to ensure all components function at optimal levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned:
Installation and repair of security systems for residential and business customers offering/upselling additional equipment so each customer is completely protected customer training in use of equipment ensuring that documentation is properly completed and submitted daily Service calls to replace/repair defective parts. Trouble shoot systems and customer (re) education Maintain accurate inventory on vehicle Adds and moves of services

  • Proficient in IP and analog surveillance cameras
  • Digital Video recorders
  • Network video recorders
  • Intrusion alarms
  • Fire alarms
  • Access control equipment and panels
  • Low voltage experience
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of computer network architecture and IP addressing
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct system diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support
  • Understanding of
ZWAVE/ZIGBEE
technologies
  • Holds a state fire/burg license or the ability to hold one
  • Understand and function in dealer accounts
  • Ability to function in third party interactive software
  • Installation, Repair, and Maintenance of Inside Wire including twisted pair copper, Cat5, and Coax
  • Basic troubleshooting of small home and office LAN networking and configurations
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing quality service, identifying customer needs and assisting
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Uses excellent hearing and listening skills to receive detailed information.
  • Responds to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Monthly SALES quota requirement met through upselling and upgrading customers with additional GVTC products and services.
  • Full accountability in safety, productivity, quality, workmanship, customer service, and SALES through monthly individual reporting and on-site work observations.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; some college preferred. 3 to 5 years Telecommunications experience preferred. Basic Understanding of Cabling and Wiring for Communications Services Basic PC skills Basic Consumer electronics experience
Language Ability :
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to deal with and solve problems using solid judgment skills. Technical skills : Basic PC and keyboarding skills required. Basic understanding of telephony, cable and internet technologies is preferred.
