Job Description
Overview JComm is hiring Fiber/Telecom Utility Locate Contractors for immediate field work. We are looking for dependable contractors with experience in fiber, telecom, CATV, underground communications infrastructure, or utility locating. This is a 1099 independent contractor role for people who can work independently, stay accurate, and complete assigned tickets without constant supervision. If you can handle ticket volume, protect plant, and stay productive, there is consistent work available. Responsibilities Complete assigned utility locate tickets daily Locate and mark underground fiber / telecom / CATV / communications lines Identify and trace: Fiber routes Coax systems Conduit pathways Service drops Handholes / pedestals / vault-fed routes Read maps, prints, plats, and field records Use locating equipment to trace underground communications infrastructure Mark utilities using proper APWA color codes Submit accurate documentation, photos, and ticket closeouts Maintain production, route efficiency, and safety standards Communicate professionally regarding access issues, conflicts, missing records, or emergency conditions Prevent mis-marks and protect network integrity Preferred Experience Utility locating experience 811 / One-Call ticket experience Fiber optic / telecom / CATV field experience Outside Plant (OSP) knowledge Experience with: Radiodetection Vivax-Metrotech Subsite Tempo / Greenlee Similar locating equipment
