Full Job Description Job Title:
Small Engine Mechanic Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. The Small Engine Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of small engines, including but not limited to lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, motorcycles, and other power equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical abilities, a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and related equipment. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, spark plug replacement, and cleaning. Inspect and test engines to identify issues and recommend solutions. Order, replace, and install engine parts as necessary. Maintain accurate service records and update work orders. Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines. Communicate effectively with customers regarding diagnostics, repair options, and estimated timeframes. Stay current with technology and repair techniques by attending training sessions as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or in a related technical field. Familiarity with diagnosing and repairing a variety of small engine types. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Certification from a recognized small engine repair program (e.g., EETC, ASE). Experience working with both gasoline and diesel-powered small engines. Basic computer proficiency for accessing work orders and repair manuals. Excellent customer service and communication skills. May occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Exposure to noise, fumes, and various weather conditions may occur. Use of protective equipment is required.
