Job Description

Marine Services Technician Location:
St. Petersburg, Florida Compensation $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience $250 monthly health insurance reimbursement Paid travel for project assignments About the Role Impact Social Ventures is seeking an experienced Marine Services Technician to lead maintenance, repair, and restoration projects across a fleet of sailing vessels and support craft operating in Florida and the Caribbean. This is a hands-on position for a highly capable marine professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, managing diverse projects, and working across multiple vessel systems. The ideal candidate is a skilled troubleshooter with a "jack-of-all-trades" mindset, capable of independently diagnosing issues while mentoring the next generation of maritime professionals. In addition to maintaining our fleet, this position plays an important role in our workforce development mission by supervising and teaching student apprentices through a partnership with a local high school maritime program. The position includes up to 45 days of annual travel to support vessel refits and maintenance projects in locations including Trinidad and St. Maarten. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul marine systems and vessel equipment Plan and execute maintenance, restoration, and refit projects Lead and supervise student apprentices and trainees on active projects Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budgeted labor estimates Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and vessel operators as needed Identify preventative maintenance opportunities to improve fleet reliability Desired Technical Experience Strong candidates will possess experience in many of the following areas: Mechanical Systems Marine diesel engine diagnostics and repair Outboard engine diagnostics and repair Fuel systems, cooling systems, and drivetrain troubleshooting Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair Electrical Systems 12V, 24V, 120V, and 230V marine electrical systems Battery banks, charging systems, inverters, and shore power systems Electrical troubleshooting and system testing Plumbing / HVAC Systems Marine plumbing systems, including water pumps and vacuum-flush sanitation systems Troubleshooting and repair of marine HVAC systems Experience with Dometic chiller systems preferred General Maintenance & Refit Fiberglass and gelcoat repair Marine painting, including Awlgrip systems Brightwork and varnish applications Light carpentry and interior finish work Ideal Candidate Self-motivated and capable of working independently Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously Patient teacher and mentor with a commitment to developing apprentices Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally Schedule Monday-Friday8:00 AM - 5:00
PM Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
