Job Description

CTS CUSTOM TRAILERS
Marine Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Designer Muscatine, Iowa CTS Custom Trailers is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Designer to join our growing team in Muscatine, Iowa. CTS specializes in premium custom aluminum and steel trailers along with lift cradles and dry storage cradles for some of the top names in the marine industry. From high performance catamarans and center consoles to military landing craft and oversized transport projects, no two builds at CTS are the same. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving unique engineering challenges and wants to work in a fast-paced custom fabrication environment where their work directly impacts the finished product.
MARINE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.
Applicants without prior marine industry experience will not be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design custom trailers, cradles, and marine transport systems using CAD software Develop hull-specific bunk and support systems for a wide range of vessels Create manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs Collaborate closely with fabrication and production teams throughout the build process Engineer oversized and specialty transport solutions for high-end marine applications Work directly with OEM boat manufacturers, customers, and 3D scan data Support continuous improvement of existing CTS product lines and manufacturing processes Ensure projects meet structural, dimensional, and transport requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong marine industry background required Experience with SolidWorks, KeyCreator, or similar CAD software Mechanical engineering, drafting, or design background Understanding of welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes Experience with trailers, transport systems, or marine manufacturing preferred Strong understanding of weight distribution, suspension systems, and structural loading Ability to manage multiple custom projects simultaneously Strong communication and problem-solving skills
