Job Description
Position Summary:
The Boat Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of watercraft including inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engines, electrical systems, hull components, and onboard accessories. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to ensure customer satisfaction and safe boating experiences.Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on boats, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Conduct winterization and de-winterization procedures. Install and troubleshoot marine electronics, navigation systems, and audio equipment. Inspect and repair hulls, propellers, steering systems, and fuel systems. Maintain accurate service records and complete work orders in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding diagnostics, repairs, and recommendations. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist with boat launching, hauling, and storage as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to marina policies.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine service or related mechanical field. Certification from ABYC, NMMA, or manufacturer training programs is a plus. Strong knowledge of marine engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo Penta, etc.). Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Valid driver's license: boating license or experience operating watercraft preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.Work Environment:
Outdoor and indoor marina setting. Exposure to water, weather elements, and mechanical equipment. May require weekend or holiday hours during peak season.Benefits:
