Job Description

Marine Diesel Technician Essential Job Functions:
Disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts, including but not limited to powertrain, hydraulic, electrical AC/DC, and diesel engines in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards. Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps. Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components. Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components. Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines. Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor. Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner. Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns. Prepare, inspect and test prior to delivery. Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment. Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times. Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems. Perform related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Marine Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training and certifications through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred. Minimum 2 to 3 years previous hands-on work experience as a diesel technician repairing Cummins, Volvo engines, Detroit Engines or applicable diagnostic and troubleshooting experience as a technician. Ability to read and comprehend moderately difficult computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and other related publications. Basic mechanical systems knowledge of diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems. Proficient in the use of mechanical test equipment. Ability to safely use material handling equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, harnesses, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours. Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy. Good computer skills using related information system applications. Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations. Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced service environment. Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary Other Job Requirements VALID Drivers License Posses a complete set of basic mechanic hand tools including drives. sockets and wrenches.
