This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining motorcycles, sport bikes, scooters, and other powersport vehicles. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep passion for motorcycles, performance tuning, and rider safety. The technician will work extensively on Japanese sport bikes and performance motorcycles, performing everything from routine factory maintenance to advanced electronics diagnostics, engine rebuilds, suspension tuning, and aftermarket performance installations.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Inspect motorcycles and powersport vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and performance-related issues. Utilize current

Bike diagnostic software and vehicle interfaces to pull codes, view live parameter data, and clear adaptive parameters. Leverage systematic troubleshooting procedures, interactive wiring diagrams, and manufacturer technical bulletins to isolate complex electrical faults efficiently. Routine Maintenance Perform oil and filter changes, fluid replacements, tune-ups, chain adjustments, and brake service. Mount, balance, and inspect high-performance sport bike tires utilizing precision shop equipment. Lubricate moving parts and inspect wear components. Complete scheduled maintenance services precisely according to manufacturer specifications. Engine, Mechanical & Performance Repair Perform custom ECU flashing , fuel map tuning, and electronic throttle adjustments to optimize power delivery and eliminate factory restrictions. Install aftermarket performance components, including full exhaust systems, quickshifters, auto-blippers, and high-spec suspension kits. Repair or replace defective components, including pistons, fuel injection systems, electrical harnesses, and advanced chassis components. Dismantle and rebuild high-performance engines, transmissions, and drivetrain systems with absolute precision. Customer Communication & Shop Stewardship Communicate professionally with customers regarding motorcycle issues, repair recommendations, timelines, and cost estimates. Explain technical data and tuning diagnostics in clean, customer-friendly language. Maintain accurate service documentation, repair notes, and baseline tuning logs. Maintain shop organization by keeping active service bays clean, organized, safe, and free of hazards. Ensure specialty tools and diagnostic hardware are calibrated and stored daily. Testing & Quality Control Conduct test rides and operational testing following repairs to verify performance stability and throttle calibration. Perform comprehensive safety inspections prior to customer delivery. Ensure all work meets strict shop quality standards and manufacturer specifications. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license with a clean motorcycle endorsement (M) required for customer vehicle test rides. Strong understanding of motorcycle engines, fuel injection systems, electrical networks, suspension geometry, and braking systems. Proficiency using hand tools, pneumatic tools, specialty motorcycle tools, and digital diagnostic software. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex mechanical or electronic issues. Ability to lift heavy motorcycle components, manage paddock stands, and stand for extended periods. Completion of a motorcycle mechanic vocational program preferred. Factory certifications or powersports training strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications Proven experience working on modern Japanese sport bikes (Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki). Direct experience with commercial ECU flashing software and hardware interfaces (e.g., Woolich Racing, FT ECU, or similar platforms). Proven understanding of air-fuel ratios (AFR), data logging, and fuel mapping diagnostics. Track-day or racing experience is a major plus. Compensation & Benefits Uncapped 33% Labor-Share Commission Model (with a guaranteed base rate of $20.00 - $25.00/hr during initial shop ramp-up).
Realistic Earning Potential:
