Gold Beach Lumber Yard, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Small Engine Mechanic to service and repair outdoor power equipment for our local customers. In this on-site role, you'll diagnose issues, perform tune-ups, and handle repairs on mowers, trimmers, generators, and similar equipment. You'll assemble new units, identify and order parts, and maintain clear repair records. Working closely with our sales and yard teams, you'll help customers understand equipment use and maintenance while supporting our community-focused, customer-first environment. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair small engines and outdoor power equipment (mowers, trimmers, generators, etc.) Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, and blade sharpening Inspect equipment, identify parts needs, and coordinate parts ordering with the store team Assemble and test new power equipment for display and customer pickup Maintain accurate work orders, repair notes, and parts usage records Keep the shop area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Assist customers with basic equipment operation, care, and troubleshooting questions Collaborate with sales and yard staff to prioritize repair work and support customer projects Required Skills Small engine diagnostics Engine repair and rebuilds Carburetor tuning and cleaning Fuel and ignition systems Preventive maintenance Power equipment assembly Parts identification and ordering Hand and power tool use Work order documentation Customer service
