Job Overview:

The marine technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing boats, trailers, and other watercraft. The marine technician troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, performs engine diagnostics, and replaces faulty parts. This role plays a crucial role in creating/maintaining customer relationships and customer satisfaction. This role does demand strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of technical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnostics and troubleshooting: Testing the performance of marine engines, electrical wiring, plus more using diagnostic equipment and knowledge
• Maintenance and repair: Performing routine services (oil and filter changes, impeller changes, etc.) and repairing and/or replacing broken parts (propellers, steering components, and more)
• Equipment installation: Install and configure marine electronics, including GPS, radar, sound systems, underwater lights, etc… extensive knowledge with wiring.

• Customer Service:

  Communicate directly with clients to explain repair needs, provide cost estimates, and suggest work that should be completed while at the shop. All of this must be done in a fashion to create/maintain customer satisfaction and to ensure that the customers will always know that we are doing what is right for them.

Documentation:

Keep highly accurate service records and repair logs

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be willing to work with a team and help when needed
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, be exposed to hot and cold weather climates, work in confined spaces, climb, and board vessels in/out of the water
• Must be trustworthy … we need someone who will own up to mistakes/ ask for help when needed. We are a team, we will fix anything as a team
• Willing to travel to local marinas to service/repair customers' watercraft

• Education:

  High school diploma or GED is required… Formal training from an accredited trade program in marine mechanics is preferred

• Experience:

  2-5 years of proven, hands-on experience in marine service and repair

• Certifications:

  Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Yamaha, Mercury, Sea-Doo, Rotax, etc.) are a plus

• Schedule:

  Monday-Friday w/ rotating Saturdays
