NSC Staffing Send Resumes to: nscnorfolk@nscstaffing.com NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Marine Craft Mechanic - Secret Clearance (Direct Hire) to support mission-critical maintenance operations in a waterfront, shipyard, and military installation environment . This position is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on marine craft, vessel systems, propulsion equipment, and marine support equipment. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience maintaining marine vessels or small craft and be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and steering systems while supporting government and military operations. Position Overview The Marine Craft Mechanic - Secret Clearance (Direct Hire) performs preventative and corrective maintenance on marine craft and vessel systems. This role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of marine propulsion systems, and the ability to independently diagnose and repair equipment in waterfront and field environments. The successful candidate will support maintenance operations aboard vessels, docks, piers, ramps, marinas, and maintenance facilities while following OEM technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and applicable safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Marine Craft & Vessel Maintenance Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on: Marine craft and small boats Outboard engines Inboard engines Marine propulsion systems Marine support equipment Perform inspections and maintenance to ensure vessel and equipment readiness. Identify mechanical deficiencies and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Mechanical Systems & Troubleshooting Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace components associated with: Fuel systems Cooling systems Steering systems Marine propulsion systems Marine electrical systems Perform engine and mechanical system maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and determine the appropriate repair procedures. Read and interpret OEM technical manuals, maintenance procedures, schematics, and technical documentation. Preventative & Corrective Maintenance Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with OEM and program requirements. Conduct corrective maintenance and repairs to restore equipment to operational condition. Inspect marine systems and components for wear, damage, leaks, or other deficiencies. Support troubleshooting and repair activities to minimize equipment downtime. Ensure completed maintenance meets operational and safety requirements. Waterfront & Field Support Perform maintenance aboard vessels, docks, ramps, piers, and floating or fixed waterfront structures. Support maintenance operations at shipyards, marinas, and military installations. Work directly with maintenance teams, vessel operators, and government personnel. Assist with vessel launch, recovery, movement, and maintenance activities as required. Support operational and contingency maintenance requirements. Maintenance Documentation & Compliance Accurately document inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage. Follow OEM technical manuals and approved maintenance procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with program and government requirements. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable safety, quality, and maintenance standards. Communicate equipment conditions, repair requirements, and maintenance status to supervisors and government personnel. Safety & Quality Assurance Follow all safety policies, environmental requirements, and established maintenance procedures. Properly handle fuels, lubricants, chemicals, tools, and mechanical equipment. Use required PPE and safe work practices at all times. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and professionally in waterfront and vessel environments. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications U.S. Citizen. Must have an active Secret Security Clearance . Valid U.S. driver's license required. Ability to obtain installation access credentials. Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining marine craft, boats, or marine vessel systems.

Ability to read and interpret OEM technical manuals and maintenance procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Military or government vessel maintenance experience. Experience supporting Naval Special Warfare, U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, or commercial vessel operations . OEM marine engine certifications. Small craft maintenance and troubleshooting experience. Trailer maintenance and recovery equipment experience. Experience working in shipyard, marina, waterfront, or military installation environments. Work Environment Waterfront, marina, shipyard, and military installation environments.

Marine vessels Docks Ramps Piers Floating and fixed waterfront structures Maintenance facilities Exposure to: Marine weather conditions Noise Fuels and lubricants Mechanical equipment Outdoor working conditions Frequent interaction with maintenance teams, vessel operators, supervisors, and government personnel. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds . Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined spaces. Ability to board vessels and work on floating or fixed waterfront structures. Ability to climb ladders and safely navigate vessel compartments. Ability to work aboard vessels and in varying weather and environmental conditions. Ability to safely operate and use hand tools and maintenance equipment.
