Job Description

Responsibilities Seeking a skilled and experienced marine technician to work out of our dedicated facility located in south Puget Sound in Washington State, with responsibilities that include Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing all systems onboard powerboats under 65 feet in length, including Sterndrive engines from 135-400+ HP from Mercruiser and Volvo Penta Outboard engines from 5-250+ HP from Evinrude & Johnson, Honda, and others Steering, electrical, fuel, exhaust, and other auxiliary systems and components Estimating time and cost to complete customer repairs Interacting with customers to diagnose issues and communicate details of repair work Staying up to date with manufacturer and industry training sessions Required qualifications At least 7 years direct experience as marine service technician in workshop environment performing troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair work on sterndrive and outboard-powered boats under 65 feet in length Direct experience with following
OEMs:
Mercruiser, Volvo Penta, Honda, & Evinrude/Johnson Deep experience with all systems onboard powerboats including steering, electrical, fuel, exhaust, and other auxiliary systems and components Ability to perform repair & service work independently with minimal oversight High integrity and a customer-service mindset, with commitment to delivering high quality service experience following industry best practices Located in South Puget Sound (Washington state) or ready to relocate Highschool diploma or equivalent American citizen or green card holder Must be able to pass initial background check Preferred qualifications ABYC certifications Completion of relevant OEM trainings & certifications Technical degree in marine service from reputable school Compensation Highly competitive hourly wage commiserate with experience & capabilities Annual performance bonus Full healthcare & dental benefits Opportunity to grow into managerial role if desired and as competency demonstrated Employer background Owner-operated marine service & repair business located in desirable rural residential area in south Puget Sound across the street from major waterway. Business has been in operation for more than 25 years and serves an attractive repeat customer base that includes a mix of affluent seasonal residents and local marine-related corporations The company has built a best-in-class reputation for delivering high quality service leveraging the extensive marine industry experience of the founder, a customer-service mindset with the highest integrity, long-term relationships with major OEMs and key marine industry suppliers, and continual investments in technician trainings The company has three primary offerings that include (1) Marine engine and component repair services focused on power boats under 65 feet in length, performed both on-site at dedicated facility as well as offsite via service calls, (2) Parts, accessories, and consumables sales, and (3) Outdoor boat storage & launch/retrieval services The business is operated out of a purpose-built facility that includes two indoor & two outdoor service bays, front of store retail space, and an uncovered outdoor storage yard Founder has over 40 years' experience in the marine industry, which includes several years as an instructor for a major marine OEM where he was responsible for teaching service and repair best practices to students from across the country. In addition to the founder, business currently employs one marine service technician with over a decade of experience all of which has been with the business Business in strong financial position and has experienced year-over-year growth in every year since inception, and has built a loyal repeat customer base that represents the vast majority of business each year
