Job Description

The small engine mechanic will provide quality customer service within the Ace Rental Department by providing our valued customers with rental equipment that operates at top performance. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative's mission and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve our customers in a friendly, efficient manner Promote positive culture and ensure effective communication. Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles. Repair small engines in various types of equipment used for both rental equipment as well as customer owned equipment. Obtain working knowledge of the Stihl product line and equipment offered and how to service and maintain the various equipment pieces. Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business. Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety regulations and procedures Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required:
Previous small engine repair and/or retail experience is preferred HS Diploma or equivalent preferred Good driving record
Skills and Abilities Required:
Must be patient, helpful, friendly, courteous, have service-oriented attitude and be able to meet or exceed customer expectations Must possess basic computer skills to operate scanners, registers, calculators, etc. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regard to paperwork and daily reporting. Must be mechanically inclined to troubleshoot and fix small engines and more Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities and circumstances Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including evening, weekend and holiday shifts
Physical Requirements:
Stand and walk for the duration of work shift. Sitting occasionally. Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and 20 pounds regularly Must be able to physically perform repairs. Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the forklift truck needing repairs or maintenance, either by kneeling or lying on back. Must be able to walk, stand, lift, reach, lift overhead, twist, push, pull, bend, stretch, kneel, stoop and squat to perform repairs and inspections. Good vision to inspect repair work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position. Schedule includes weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential. Smoke-free environment. This position is primarily indoors but at times may be exposed to heat/cold outdoor temperatures.
