Job Title:
Wheel and Brake Technician Job Description The Wheel and Brake Technician produces reliable, high-quality, airworthy wheel and brake components with a strong focus on workmanship, cost efficiency, and optimal turnaround time. This role involves precise mechanical work on small, detailed parts, following technical documentation and established procedures to ensure every product meets strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Perform assembly and disassembly of wheel and brake components using hand tools, power tools, hydraulic presses, pumps, and other shop equipment. Work on small, detailed, and sometimes tedious parts with consistent focus and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality. Read, interpret, and follow work instructions, Component Maintenance Manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical publications to complete tasks correctly. Operate equipment such as media blasters, drill presses, bead breakers, rivet machines, and torque wrenches in accordance with safety and quality procedures. Apply knowledge or training in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to support inspection and verification of component integrity when required. Mix and spray paints and primers following specified procedures to ensure proper coating and finish of components. Maintain a clean and organized individual workbench while working for extended periods on assigned tasks. Collaborate effectively with the team, while also being able to work independently to meet production and turnaround goals. Follow all quality, safety, and documentation standards to produce airworthy products at a reasonable cost and within required timelines. Retain and apply technical information learned through training and cross-training to expand capabilities and support a variety of tasks. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical background, with experience working with tools and mechanical assemblies. Ability to remain focused and pay close attention to detail when working on small, precise components. Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, Component Maintenance Manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical publications. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Capability to perform assembly and disassembly work on mechanical components. Ability to retain technical information and apply it consistently to work tasks. Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently at an individual workbench for extended periods. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with hydraulic presses and pumps in a maintenance or production environment. Experience using media blasters, drill presses, bead breakers, rivet machines, and torque wrenches. Knowledge or training in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Knowledge or training in mixing and spraying paints and primers. in automotive mechanics or similar mechanical fields. Familiarity with assembly, disassembly, and mechanical troubleshooting. Ability to work on small, tedious parts while maintaining consistency and accuracy. No aircraft installation experience required. No A&P license required. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
