Commercial Tire Service Technician

In search of a commercial tire technician. Must be able to pass a driver license backround check, obtain a DOT medical card, and drug screen. Repair and replace commercial and large equipment tires, perform fleet checks, and perform minor service and repairs on commercial customer vehicles. Full Time with Benefits Estimated 30-50 hours / week

• availability for after hours or on-call is ideal

Skills and Abilities:

Education:

High school graduate or general education degree (GED)

Experience :

No prior experience necessary Certifications /

Licenses :

Valid driver's license; driving record must meet company's insurance requirements

Essential Functions:

For Tires

• Remove, install, rotate, balance and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer locations)
• Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels, using specialized equipment
• Inspect casings for defects
• Locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug)
• Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting For Retreads
• Prepare retreads (discuss tread with customer, prepare work order, put in staging area, load on truck)
• Unload retreads (unload from truck and stack in warehouse area) For Vehicles
• Inspect vehicles using inspection forms and report potential repairs to supervisor
• Perform basic maintenance and repair Equipment
• Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or floor jacks
• Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to: safety cage, spreader, balancer, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench and / or torque sticks General
• Read work orders thoroughly and perform all listed tasks

Work Environment Lifting :

Environment :

Work in environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season. Vision (Near, distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception) Sense of Sound (Alarms, horns and motorized equipment)

PPE :

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Glasses, gloves, safety harnesses, steel reinforced footwear)
