Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tower Top hand to join our team. This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of high voltage systems, rigging, and climbing techniques, as well as experience in cabling and troubleshooting. As a Tower Hand, you will work in various field service environments, ensuring that our telecommunications infrastructure operates efficiently and effectively. Providence wireless is looking for troubleshooting and build technicians. Duties Perform installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment on towers. Climb towers safely to conduct inspections and repairs. Execute high voltage work with precision and adherence to safety protocols. Rig equipment for safe lifting and positioning during installations. Conduct fiber splicing and cabling tasks to ensure optimal connectivity. Operate bucket trucks for elevated work as required. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety standards. Qualifications Proven experience in telecommunications or related field is preferred. Proficiency in climbing techniques and safety practices associated with tower work. Familiarity with high voltage systems is a plus. Ability to weld is advantageous but not mandatory. Experience with 4G/LTE technology is desirable. Strong skills in cabling and fiber splicing are essential. Previous field service experience is beneficial. Must be physically fit and able to perform strenuous tasks at heights. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team. Perform tower construction activities including assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning, and optimizing antennas and lines. Work with basic hand tools and safety equipment. Telecom test gear knowledge a plus. Basic electronic knowledge Utilize PPE in compliance with EHS requirements and industry standards Assist with testing new and existing equipment. May include sweep, PIM, or fiber testing. Maintain OSHA safety requirements at all times with the ability to follow EHS procedures and protocol Installation of RF and antenna system components such as (antennas, TMA's, RRU's, diplexers, coax, hybrids, grounding, supports, weatherproofing, connectors, hardware, etc.) Understanding and ability to process RFDS and read and execute construction drawings. Perform routine and preventative maintenance Coordinate with other technicians and engineers to ensure proper system operation Valid driver's license. Ability to take and understand written and verbal direction Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawing and support documentation, RF data sheets, and basic electrical concepts. be able to communicate both verbally and electronically. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills Attention to detail Hard working and self-motivated Ability to work at heights greater than 100 ft. Coordinate with other technicians and engineers to ensure proper system operationWork Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:
Ability to work in all weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme weather conditions. Physically able to climb 1000 vertical feet per day Ability to travel and work in remote locations outside of the metropolitan area. Desire and ability to climb structures to heights in excess of 300' while carrying loads in excess of 50 pounds. Full-time, 40 hours/week. Overtime as needed.
