Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly attentive and safety-conscious Certified Flagger to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for directing traffic safely around construction zones, ensuring the safety of workers and the public. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of construction site safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in dynamic environments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects by maintaining safe traffic flow and supporting overall site operations. Responsibilities Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites using standardized hand signals and signage Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and traffic control plans Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to prevent accidents Monitor work zones continuously for potential hazards and report unsafe conditions promptly Assist in setting up and dismantling traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, and signs Coordinate with equipment operators to facilitate smooth movement of heavy machinery Maintain accurate records of daily traffic control activities and incidents Follow established procedures for emergency situations or unexpected disruptions Support other construction activities as needed, including basic site cleanup or assisting with equipment operation Experience Prior experience working on construction sites or in traffic control roles preferred Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks is advantageous Familiarity with utility locating and basic paving techniques enhances effectiveness on the job Certification or training in flagging procedures from recognized safety organizations is required Experience operating Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment is a plus Strong understanding of construction safety standards and protocols Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety This role is essential for maintaining safe work environments on busy construction sites.
