Job Description
Join the City of Durango's Streets Team and contribute to the infrastructure that keeps our community running smoothly. As a Streets Operator, you'll operate light to heavy equipment to support essential maintenance activities like street repair, landscaping, and maintaining water and wastewater lines. From hauling materials and sweeping streets to snow removal and storm drain maintenance, your work will directly impact the safety and quality of life in Durango. We'll invest in your success. If you don't already have a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), we'll facilitate the training you need to obtain it. And to show our appreciation of your hard work, we offer a $500 per month snowplow bonus between November 1st and April 30th every year. What You'll Do in
This Role:
Operate various construction and maintenance equipment, including dump trucks, skid loaders, front-end loaders, cement mixers, forklifts, vactor trucks, patch trucks, ditch witches, weed cutters, snowplows, street sweepers, and more. Perform preventative maintenance on heavy and light equipment. Maintain production logs and records. Participate in road construction and repair, including: Constructing and finishing concrete for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, streets, alleys, and related areas. Digging ditches and backfilling trenches. Installing storm drainpipes. Breaking and repairing concrete and asphalt. Hot patching, sealing, and removing debris from road surfaces. Perform street maintenance tasks, including: Barricading and traffic control around work sites. Installing street signs in compliance with regulations and ordinances. Painting crosswalk lines, curbs, and traffic control symbols. Operating a street sweeper to clean and maintain roadways, picking up litter, and cleaning storm drains. Removing snow and ice from roadways and parks as directed.You Have:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Two years of experience performing street maintenance work and operating light construction, agriculture, landscaping, or maintenance equipment. The ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) during employment. You Will Succeed inThis Role If You:
Have knowledge of basic practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in grounds maintenance and general maintenance work. Familiarity with traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in heavy equipment operation. Excellent customer service skills.What We Can Offer You:
