Job Description

Traffic Control Flagger Position Summary:
We are seeking dependable and safety-focused Traffic Control Flaggers to join our team. This role is essential to maintaining safe and efficient work zones by directing traffic and supporting construction crews in the field. Working closely with site Foreman, Traffic Control Technicians, and Traffic Control Supervisors, the Traffic Control Flagger ensures both workers and motorists are protected from hazards associated with active construction areas. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that requires physical stamina, strong situational awareness, and a commitment to upholding all safety regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
    Traffic Control:
    Safely direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic through and around active work zones using standard flagging techniques, signs, and equipment.
      Work Zone Setup:
      Assist in setting up, maintaining, and dismantling temporary traffic control areas, including cones, barrels, signs, barricades, and rumble strips according to DOT and ATSSA regulations.
        Crew Support:
        Assist Traffic Control Technicians and Traffic Control Supervisors in daily site operations and ensure the safety of all personnel in the work zone.
          Safety Compliance:
          Monitor traffic and site conditions to identify and respond to potential hazards. Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
            Equipment Handling:
            Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing traffic control devices and PPE from the company vehicle; operate message boards, arrow boards, and light towers as needed.
              Documentation:
              Accurately complete daily reports, timesheets, and any required paperwork.
                Communication:
                Maintain clear communication with team members, supervisors, and the public to ensure smooth worksite operations.
                  Other Duties:
                  Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall job site function.
                  Required Skills & Abilities:
                  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and work under supervision.
                  • Strong awareness of surroundings with the ability to identify and react to dangerous situations quickly.
                  • Excellent verbal communication skills for coordinating with team members and the public.
                  • Capable of working long, flexible hours, including early mornings or evenings.
                  • Comfortable working in fast-paced and high-traffic environments.
                  • Basic understanding of traffic safety and construction site protocols.
                  Physical Requirements:
                  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
                  • Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods (entire shift).
                  • Capable of quick physical movements to avoid oncoming traffic or site hazards.
                  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
                  • Tolerance for limited breaks during active work periods.
                  Qualifications:
                  • Must be 18 years or older.
                  • Having a valid license and clean driving record is preferred
                  • Must be able to pass a drug screening prior to employment and maintain a drug-free status.
                  • Ability to pass the ATSSA Flagger Certification Course (provided by the company)
                  • Must have smartphone access with internet for timekeeping, schedules, and communication.
                  • Previous flagging or traffic control experience is a plus but not required.
