Part-time Position Overview:
Bowens Business Solutions LLC is seeking dependable and safety-focused individuals to serve as Advanced Mobile Railroad Flaggers (AMF) within the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) system. This role is essential for maintaining safety around active railroad tracks and ensuring the smooth operation of train movements while protecting work crews and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide flagging services to ensure safety around railroad tracks. Use radios to communicate with train operators and work crews. Utilize tablets for accurate and timely reporting. Maintain high situational awareness and enforce safety protocols. Travel to various WMATA locations across the Greater Washington, DC area. Adhere strictly to safety and operational procedures.
Typical Schedule & Pay:
Shift Hours:
7:00 AM - 3:00
PM Workdays:
Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday Starting Pay:
$20/hour (if no prior experience) (No prior experience or certification required — training and certification will be provided)
Requirements:
Local Residency:
Must reside in the Greater Washington, DC area and be able to commute to multiple WMATA sites.
Shift Flexibility:
Must be available for various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Screening:
Must pass a background check, drug test, and alcohol screening.
Training & Certification:
Complete a 3-day classroom training. Pass WMATA's flagging certification test. Participate in a one-week shadowing period with a certified flagger.
Communication Skills:
Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
Technology Use:
Must be comfortable using tablets and radios for communication and reporting.
Time Management:
Must demonstrate strong time management and reliability.
Cell Phone Policy:
Personal cell phones are strictly prohibited while on duty.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in transportation, construction, or safety-related roles. Familiarity with WMATA systems and safety protocols. Ability to remain alert and focused in high-pressure environments.
