Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, mature, contributor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of traffic flow at construction sites. This position requires a proactive approach in managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic to deliver safety wherever construction activities are taking place. The Traffic Controller must remain continually alert to interact compatibly with construction crews, site managers, regulatory authorities, and the public to ensure smooth operations while adhering to all MUTCD requirements.   • Respect and proper care/maintenance of all company assets.
  • Excellent attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record.
General Work Duties Manage traffic flow around construction sites to ensure safety for both workers and the public. Continually achieve compliance with all training, traffic laws, and regulations imposed on the work zone traffic control industry. Always maintain communication with work partners. Monitor construction activities and adjust traffic patterns as necessary to minimize disruptions. Collaborate with construction teams to understand site needs and implement appropriate traffic control measures. Maintain clear communication with site supervisors regarding any issues or changes in traffic conditions. Interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner. Always show respect for safety personnel or regulatory authorities. Without supervision set up and continually perform duties at job sites based on the site plan and or manager/contractor directions. Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures. Ability to work a flexible work schedule. Ability to operate a 2-way radio. Ability to provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to continually demonstrate a strong commitment to safety. Complete daily paperwork accurately and submit on time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires standing & sitting for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 - 12 hours a day. Requires lifting 50 + lbs. Requires using hands to handle, control or lift objects. Requires reaching with hands and arms for up to 14 hours a day. Requires climbing in and out of vehicle cabs and beds. Requires being outside and exposed to environmental conditions. Requires being in traffic and around construction equipment. Requires repetitive movement. Requires exposure to reasonable noise levels. Requires clarity of vision and hearing. Experience Previous experience in traffic control, construction, or military is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided. A strong appreciation of safety practices and especially those related to both traffic management and construction activities is essential. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety and efficiency is required.
