Crews work in a variety of locations around Clarke, Frederick and Fauquier Counties! Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Control Flagger and play a vital role in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow at construction projects. This energetic position involves directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic around active work zones, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting the efficient progress of highway maintenance, civil infrastructure, and utility projects. Duties Safely direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites using standardized hand signals and signage Set up and take down traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and warning signs to establish secure work zones Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations Monitor work zones continuously to identify potential hazards or unsafe behaviors and report them promptly Assist with flagging operations during various construction activities including paving, heavy equipment operation, and utility locating Follow all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations related to traffic control and safety standards Support other site activities as needed, including manual handling of materials or assisting with heavy lifting tasks Experience Prior experience working on construction projects or in a civil infrastructure role is highly desirable, but not required. Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and highway maintenance procedures Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance is beneficial Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely for extended periods in outdoor environments Construction or utility project experience demonstrating attention to detail and safety awareness Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions to support ongoing projects ATSSA or VDOT certification a plus, but we train if not! Pay:
From $17.00 per hour
