You will be responsible for building, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) broadband networks. The ideal candidate has hands-on outside plant (OSP) experience splicing hardline coaxial cable, balancing RF paths, and activating active and passive network components in both aerial and underground environments.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Coax Splicer to join our operations team. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) broadband networks. The ideal candidate has hands-on outside plant (OSP) experience splicing hardline coaxial cable, balancing RF paths, and activating active and passive network components in both aerial and underground environments.
Hardline Splicing & Activation:
Perform splicing, prep, dress, and activation of distribution and trunk coax cables for new construction, rebuilds, and system upgrades.
Equipment Installation:
Install, house, and configure HFC actives and passives including optical nodes, amplifiers, line extenders, power supplies, taps, and splitters.
Testing & Troubleshooting:
Utilize meters and test gear (such as TDRs, OTDRs, signal level meters, and sweep equipment) to troubleshoot signal loss, mitigate upstream noise, and balance forward/return RF paths.
System Documentation:
Read and interpret as-built layout maps, schematics, and design blueprints; accurately log daily production reports and red-line maps.
Safety & Compliance:
Operate bucket trucks and standard OSP construction equipment while adhering strictly to company, OSHA, and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations.
