Full Job Description Company Background:
Alaska Overhead is a quickly growing locally owned and operated Overhead Crane Supplier, Inspection, & Field Service Company. We specialize in the Supply, Installation, and Repair of Overhead Cranes & Hoists as well as Annual inspections of Overhead Cranes & Hoists, Mobile Cranes, Automotive Lifts, Below the Hook Lifting Equipment, and Man Lifts. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Overhead Crane Field Service Technician to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Under the general supervision of Alaska Overhead's Operations Manager & Field Service Lead, the Field Service Technician will be a front-line employee with direct customer contact. In this role, your main purpose will be to perform inspections, and assist with crane installation projects. Breakdowns will require troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical components and circuits on overhead bridge cranes and related equipment at customer sites.
Responsibilities:
Must be committed to workplace safety•the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and our customers is of the utmost importance. Inspect overhead cranes and hoists to verify safety and compliance with manufacturer, OSHA, ANSI, ASME, CMAA, and other related standards and specifications. Troubleshoot and Repair overhead bridge cranes & Hoists from various manufacturers. Both mechanical and electrical. (Strong knowledge of motor skills) Install, program, and troubleshoot VFDs, remote controls, contactors, and other electrical systems. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities on equipment. Evaluate equipment and make recommendations regarding required repairs. Accurately document work performed, including time logs, checklists, and service records. Provide a high level of communication with both office and customers of repairs performed, recommendations, future needs, equipment id, etc. Be available for overtime, weekends, and short notice service calls. Maintain company service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation. Adapt and adhere to company and customer requirements & safety programs
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required One to five years of work experience with similar types of industrial equipment Prior experience in a related field service role is preferred Valid driver's license with clean driving record Must pass a drug & alcohol screening and national background check Must provide general basic personal hand tools
Skills and Knowledge:
Self-motivated and capable of working independently Good mechanical and electrical skills required. Proficient with 3-phase motor control circuits (460/230VAC) and control circuits (120VAC) Proficient with measurements using tape measures, vernier calipers, and feeler gauges. Attention to detail is essential. Crane & lifting experience is a plus Welding skills are a plus Be willing to study for and pass the Crane Tech Certified Overhead Crane Inspector exam Be willing to study for and pass the NCCO Certified Overhead Crane Inspector exam
Work Environment Considerations:
Most of our work is located at customer locations throughout the state of Alaska. Work environments and working conditions vary depending on assignment•75% inside, 25% outside. Travel & out of town work required•80% Working at heights. Typically in man lifts, on ladders, and accessways. Driving using company provided service truck. Overtime required Some heavy lifting required.
