Technician
  • Lines (Transmission O&M Department) PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members
  • 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems
  • in Alabama and northwest Florida.
PowerSouth's member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and construction of transmission lines. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate a potential for success in the Technician
  • Lines Training program by qualifying on an aptitude-based placement exercise and a behaviorally-based structured interview.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within eighteen (18) months (must be 21 years of age to obtain CDL). Candidates must be capable of performing maintenance and repair work on transmission line facilities including climbing transmission structures and performing tasks while on the structure.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in performing all necessary routine maintenance and repair work on transmission line facilities including those which require climbing. Operates heavy equipment such as road tractors, digger derricks, and bucket trucks in a competent manner, including vehicle transport equipment. Performs general maintenance on transmission line rights of way including removing dangerous trees, clearing brush, and trimming trees. Performs inspections in transmission facilities.
