Full Job Description Locate Technician Location:
Wentzville, MO 63367 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in Wentzville, MO. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. Key Responsibilities Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utilities including gas, water, electric, and telecommunications lines. Use specialized equipment such as ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators, and GPS devices to detect and mark utility lines. Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and other documentation to assist in locating underground infrastructure. Communicate effectively with contractors, excavators, and utility companies to provide clear and accurate locate information. Maintain detailed records of locate activities and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure personal and public safety. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred. Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in utility locating. Work Environment This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and may involve walking, standing, and lifting equipment. The Locate Technician will often work independently and must be able to manage time effectively.
