Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Line Locator Technician to join our dynamic team. Duties Utilize utility locating devices such as ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic detectors to precisely identify underground utilities including cables, pipes, and conduits. Interpret construction plans, site plans, schematics, and blueprints to accurately locate underground utilities in accordance with project specifications. Mark utility locations clearly on the ground using paint, flags, or other approved methods to guide excavation crews safely around underground infrastructure. Operate company vehicles and equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, vacuum excavation tools, and other field service machinery safely and efficiently. Conduct site inspections to verify utility locations before construction or excavation begins; document findings thoroughly for project records. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members regarding utility locations, safety protocols, and project updates. Follow all safety procedures rigorously during outdoor work activities to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or utility locator with knowledge of underground utility detection methods. Strong background in land surveying, blueprint reading, construction plans interpretation, and schematic analysis. Hands-on experience working with utility locating devices such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) systems and electromagnetic locators. Familiarity with safety protocols related to outdoor fieldwork and excavation activities in the energy & utilities sector. Ability to operate heavy machinery including backhoes, forklifts, and vacuum excavation equipment confidently. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; ability to explain technical information clearly. Valid driver's license with clean driving record; experience operating company vehicles is preferred. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions; physically capable of performing field duties over extended periods. Knowledge of underground utilities management, construction site procedures, and cabling installation practices is highly desirable.
