Field Engineer
II / III
Role Overview Advance field operations through hands-on testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high, medium, and low-voltage electrical apparatus in substation environments.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Testing:
Install, test, inspect, and maintain SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, pad-mounted and GSU transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, station batteries, and manual or motor-operated switches.
Commissioning & System Readiness:
Lead field crews through testing and commissioning protocols, analyze diagnostic results against electrical theory to validate performance, and verify equipment readiness for system energization.
Troubleshooting & Technical Leadership:
Serve as the primary field resource for diagnosing complex electrical and equipment failures using single-line diagrams, schematics, and engineering documentation.
Safety & Risk Mitigation:
Conduct job-site safety briefings, enforce strict PPE protocols in substation settings, and apply Human Performance Error Reduction (HPE) techniques to minimize operational risk.
Documentation & Reporting:
Compile field test reports, document equipment discrepancies, and deliver actionable recommendations for corrective actions.
Mentorship & Crew Guidance:
Direct on-site technicians, provide technical oversight, and support the professional development of junior engineering staff.
