About QE Solar QE Solar is one of the nation's largest independent solar and BESS operations and maintenance providers, with over 15 years of operating experience. We manage 10 GW of solar and 7.5 GWh of BESS across 44 states, supporting asset owners with multi-hundred MW utility solar projects and large standalone BESS systems. We're pure-play O&M. Our technicians carry broad OEM certifications, and our in-house capabilities span MV/HV electrical, vegetation management, engineering, and capital improvements, to streamline asset management for project owners. QE Solar is seeking Solar Vegetation Technicians to support vegetation management across utility-scale solar sites throughout the Midwest. This is a seasonal, field-based role (May-October 2026) with the potential for long-term opportunities based on performance and business needs. Technicians will perform vegetation control activities including mowing and trimming around solar arrays while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work. This role requires individuals who are comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, and functioning both independently and within a crew environment. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities 85%
- Vegetation Management (Mowing & Trimming) Operate commercial riding mowers and zero-turn mowers within solar arrays and open areas Perform string trimming around solar equipment, fencing, and tight access areas Maintain awareness of surroundings to protect solar infrastructure and ensure safety 10%
- Equipment Maintenance & Reporting Perform daily inspection, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment Identify repair needs and communicate issues to supervisors Track work progress and report field conditions, issues, and safety concerns 5%
- Training, Meetings & Miscellaneous Tasks Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and operational briefings Support additional field tasks as assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Comfortable operating in outdoor environments and changing weather conditions Ability to read maps, aerial imagery, and use GPS tools Awareness of safety practices and hazard identification Ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt daily work tasks Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Valid driver's license with reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions (heat, sun, rain) Conversational English required Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification within 14 days of hire (company-supported) Preferred Qualifications Experience operating commercial mowing equipment (zero-turn, riding mowers) Experience with equipment maintenance and repair Familiarity with vegetation management, plant identification, or land management practices QE Solar is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
This position requires:
Working in indoor and outdoor environments, including solar sites, construction sites, and industrial facilities, in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.) Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing on uneven terrain Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and technical devices with precision Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights Ability to work in confined spaces and near energized equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols Visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents, and to identify potential hazards Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, arc-flash protection, and other job-specific gear Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades in active work environments QE Solar offers incredible benefits!We enjoy:
