Maintenance Assistant Hampton Inn Burley, ID Property Size:
80 Guestrooms The Hampton Inn Burley is seeking a dependable, hands-on, and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to assist in engineering operations for our 80-room select-service hotel. This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who takes pride in maintaining a well-run property, supporting guest satisfaction, and working closely with hotel leadership. Position Summary The Maintenance is responsible for the overall upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of the hotel's building, guestrooms, equipment, and grounds. This role requires strong technical skills, independent decision-making, and the ability to respond to maintenance needs efficiently in a smaller-team environment while maintaining Hilton Brand Standards . Key Responsibilities Assist and execute a guestroom preventative maintenance (PM) program for all 80 guestrooms. Respond promptly to maintenance-related guest requests, issues, and service recovery needs . Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance for all building systems, including but not limited to: PTAC units and HVAC systems Plumbing and electrical systems Laundry equipment Pumps, motors, and water systems Refrigeration and small kitchen equipment Complete all guestroom repairs , including cabinetry, furniture, appliances, door hardware, lighting, and mirrors. Perform exterior building and grounds maintenance , including seasonal upkeep and snow/ice mitigation as needed. Coordinate and work with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required. Maintain accurate logs and records , including preventative maintenance schedules, PTAC servicing, inspections, and vendor documentation. Perform routine preventative maintenance on all major equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life. Provide on-call availability for emergency maintenance issues, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Ensure the hotel consistently meets or exceeds Hilton Brand Standards , safety requirements, and local code compliance. Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be adjusted based on operational needs. Required Skills & Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Broad knowledge of building maintenance and general handyman skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision Strong organizational and time-management skills Clear verbal and written communication skills Professional attitude and reliability Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Visual and physical ability to safely perform maintenance and inspection tasks
Education & Experience Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certifications:
Trade certification or significant hands-on experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or carpentry preferred
Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or similar environment Prior experience with hotel maintenance strongly preferred
Pay:
From $14.50 per hour
