Maintenance Assistant II Contract:

Supervisor:
Director of Maintenance and Superintendent Range:
J13 Job Description Under the supervision of the site administrator, and/or the Director of Maintenance the employee does related work as required during their assigned hours of employment; does assigned maintenance at district sites; minor construction and repair on school buildings and grounds; performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance repairs; assists maintenance director as assigned, and performs other related duties. During all site vacation times and off-track periods the employee will perform such duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance. Qualifications Required 1.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and is willing to participate in professional growth activities. 2.
Experience:
Experience in maintenance work. 3.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of or ability to learn general maintenance methods, electrical, plumbing, equipment repair; identification of hazardous materials; general safety procedures. 4.
Ability to:
Operate motorized equipment common to the maintenance position; work independently to complete tasks. Develop and follow schedules, written directions; communicate effectively; maintain cooperative relationships with others; follow general safety and hazardous materials procedures. Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in English in a job related setting. Bilingual skills, which benefit the District, may be desired. 5.
Required:
Must have a valid Class "C" California Drivers' License. Required Fingerprinting and TB test. Required to pass pre-employment medical examination. Must pass District administered written comprehension skills test in basic English Maintenance Assistant II

Typical Duties:
1. Performs all duties related to maintenance. 2. Assists maintenance director when assigned. 3. Does maintenance work at each site as assigned. 4. Does minor electrical repairs. 5. Performs minor plumbing repairs. 6. Repairs equipment when necessary. 7. Assists with minor HVAC maintenance/repairs. 8. Performs all duties as assigned that reasonably relates to regularly assigned duties in relation to those fixed and prescribed duties developed by the Governing Board to the individual employee's job classification. (Ed. Code Section 45109 and 45110)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to reach horizontally and vertically with arms. Sufficient dexterity to manipulate small objects and print or write legibly. Sufficient physical ability, strength, mobility, stamina to climb, bend, stretch, stand, kneel, walk, stoop, extend legs, and stamina to lift, carry, push or pull objects, which weigh 50 pounds. Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Requirements /
