Job Description
Maintenance Electrician $35/hr - $40/hr Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including 480V, 277V, 240V, and 120V circuits. Diagnose and repair motors, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, breakers, and control panels. Perform proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states before any work. Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts to support accurate maintenance and repairs. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including input/output (I/O) modules, power supplies, and communication issues. Identify faults in control logic and collaborate with engineering and controls teams to implement effective solutions. Perform PLC maintenance tasks to ensure reliable operation of automated systems. Install and maintain conduit, wiring, and related electrical infrastructure in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Support field service activities as needed, including on-site troubleshooting and repairs within the facility. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime. Use test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and clamp meters to diagnose and verify electrical conditions. Follow all safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), respirators, and decontamination procedures. Document work performed, maintenance activities, and findings to support reliability and continuous improvement efforts. Essential Skills 3+ years of industrial electrical experience Strong proficiency working with electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, motor starters, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, breakers, and control panels. Demonstrated ability to perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, including I/O, power supplies, and communication issues. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts. Proficiency using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and clamp meters. Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair in an industrial setting. Work Environment This position operates in a dirty and hot industrial environment where safety and protective measures are critical at all times. Employees work on 2nd and 3rd shifts and must consistently wear required PPE, including hazmat suits, respirators, safety boots, and safety glasses. The role involves mandatory respirator use, supported by employer-provided PPE programs, and requires participation in bi-monthly blood draws as part of ongoing safety monitoring. Daily end-of-shift showers are required, with company-provided facilities and supplies to ensure proper decontamination at the end of each shift.
